About Wildflowers

Formally known as "Quigley" by her little friends, Kaitlyn excitedly runs Wildflowers. She is passionate about connecting kids and adult newcomers to nature. She is an ESL/LINC Instructor for the Halton District School Board, works casually at the Toronto Nature School & Tamarack West Outdoor School in after school forest programming, as well as on weekends for the Toronto Region Conservation Authority as a Nature Interpreter.

When her schedule allows, she independently offers nature programs for 1:1 and small groups in Toronto after-school during the year. She has been teaching grades 1-12 and community college courses for the last ten years  within Toronto, Canada; San Diego, California; Warsaw, Poland and Foligno, Italy. She ensures lessons are filled with environmental appreciation and creative expression through song, story and movement.

During 2020, Kaitlyn worked for the incredible outdoor education organization, the P.I.N.E. Project, where she gained invaluable experience at a grade 1-2 forest school. She also worked at the Little Explorers Nature Program in San Diego, California this past July 2023! She loves being apart of the Forest School community and has seen the amazing benefits it has on kids and herself!

Kaitlyn's approach to teaching is to learn and laugh together. She believes child-led play is crucial for social and emotional development. Therefore, during Forest Care, children are encouraged to regularly share their inspirations, talents and lead the group through various activities.

Kaitlyn maintains a Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (2022), a Wilderness First Aid Certificate (2022) and is enrolled in the Child & Nature Alliance of Canada Forest School Practitioner program (2023-2024).
